A321XLR: 155 seats, 9 routes, zero last-minute award hope.

American's A321XLR, with 20 business, 12 premium economy, and 123 economy seats, is a fixed-configuration jet on nine named routes: Philadelphia to Edinburgh, Lisbon, and Amsterdam; JFK to Edinburgh, Barcelona, Los Angeles, and San Francisco; Boston to LAX and Philadelphia. The 155-seat layout is tight for premium-cabin awards, and with only a handful of units in service today and 44 more on order, award space on these long thin corridors will be scarce, not dynamic. Don't expect last-minute drops on JFK-EDI or PHL-LIS; the math is supply, not surge.
